I’ve been using Look Designer for the past three years. It has been a major aid in introducing an extra layer of creative color and contrast to my projects. For me, an important aspect that makes it stand out to some of the other solutions is the vast library of ‘profiles’ (if I can call them like that) of print stocks, negative stocks and even photo stocks. I’ve used Colourlab AI since 2.0 as a Beta tester. As a Pro Broadcast Editor for over 30 years, I find it the most innovative software for NLEs like Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve. When I first started using ColourLab Ai, knowing that it was an Ai (Artificial Intelligence) based program. I had My doubts about using it . My thought was that no Ai based program could ever take the place of years of hard earned skills and years of experience. After using the Program and seeing it do things like emulate the look of a stills image and, for the most part, getting an accurate exposure level with very little to no work form me, I started to change my mind somewhat. As I used it further with many different workflows and with different types of footage both compressed and Raw, I saw how very valuable it could be and would be in many future situations and how I could use it for new approaches to past problems I’ve had as well as the many new future problems that Ai based programs would solve in this ever changing Post correction landscape.
Most days is a race against time, to make it to traffic I have to cut all the corners. Not stoked about this initial statement, I’m stoked by how ColourLab AI Pro has brought back work/life balance. The ability to quickly grade, match clips, create a quick look, add value to my clients work, and be home to enjoy my loved ones is priceless. And this was made possible by Colourlab AI Pro. The scope of work is to edit as many spots as possible to deliver by Thursday at noon, color unfortunately has been an afterthought beyond making it rec709. My clients are jubilant with how their spots look now, comparatively speaking.

ColorLab AI 3.2, with integration as an OFX plugin inside Resolve, completely changes the game of Color management nightmares from the ColorLab AI standalone app to Resolve to and from. Also, the match to reference is giving a closer match to our reference and with ACES Color management at the Project level.

I’ve been a ColourLab 2.3 user, and I loved it. I have followed improvements with the development of version 3, and I feel that we are at the beginning of something great. I am proud to be part of this family.
I have to admit I’ve been skeptical about Colourlab Ai, as I’m a Davinci Resolve user and am not particularly interested in integrating another program into my workflow. That said, the release of the OFX plugin is a game changer. While I don’t see this replacing any of the tools I currently employ, it is a fantastic new way to spark inspiration at the onset of a project. The ability to quickly cycle through multiple different looks, match to reference stills, and adjust the results of those matches means that I can easily and painlessly produce several options for client review.
This product gives any creator the promise and freedom to watch their dreams become reality. For someone like me, who struggled forever learning how to color grade footage properly, this product has changed everything with its ease of understanding of how to get the image your story needs. All of their products also work hand in glove. Their community is also so helpful for all those who want to learn even more. This free plug-in is a game-changer. Our students are filming with Black Magic Cinema cameras in Log color space and editing in Premiere. Freelab helps them instantly bring their shots into Rec 709 for their edits. This is a much better workflow than using some random LUTs they find online. Freelab gives them a solid, neutral starting point without using Lumetri. From that base, students can get creative with their looks, always knowing with Freelab, they can return to a beautiful base grade.

Good starting point for AI color grading.
Although it has to be carefully integrated into a complex project, I enjoy using it to inspire my grading.
I can say that I am a beginner in color grading. I applied a given look and made simple edits and adjustments using DaVinci Resolve. For me, the colourlab ai program is a really helpful program. In particular, it is a lighthouse-like program that automatically establishes the basic frame of the video through balance and then adjusts exposure and contrast to create a perfect video.
When color grading, I often feel like I am drifting in the ocean on a dark night.
Not only does this program save me time in that it gives me a lighthouse-like reference point, but it also gives me a feel for proper exposure and contrast.
